By installing or using BSDetective ("the Service"), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
BSDetective is a Chrome browser extension that analyses text content for persuasion patterns, manipulation tactics, and structural framing. It provides a Structural Persuasion Index (SPI) score and detailed analysis to help users think critically about the content they consume.
BSDetective is not a fact-checker. It does not verify the truth or accuracy of any content. It analyses how content is structured to persuade, not whether the claims made are true or false.
When you click "Analyze This Page," the visible text on your current browser tab is extracted and sent to our backend API for analysis by an AI model. The analysis results are returned to the extension and displayed in the popup. The raw page text is not stored after analysis.
BSDetective is user-invoked only. It does not run in the background, monitor your browsing, or access any tab without your explicit action.
BSDetective offers free and paid tiers:
Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You can cancel anytime through your Lemon Squeezy account or by contacting us.

BSDetective, including its detection taxonomy, technique names, analysis frameworks, and all associated branding, is the intellectual property of BSDetective. You may share and reference your analysis results freely, but may not reproduce the underlying detection system or methodology.
BSDetective uses AI-powered analysis. While we strive for accuracy, results are probabilistic assessments, not definitive judgments. The SPI score, tactic identification, and emotional targeting analysis represent the AI model's interpretation and should be treated as a critical thinking aid, not an authoritative ruling.
We make no guarantee that all persuasion techniques in a given piece of content will be detected, or that all detections are correct. Use your own judgment alongside BSDetective's analysis.
Your use of BSDetective is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and processing of data as described in that policy, including the anonymised processing of scan metadata for aggregate trend analysis.
We aim to keep BSDetective available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues. We are not liable for any loss arising from service interruptions.
BSDetective is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding any claim.
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of BSDetective after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Western Cape, South Africa.
